About New Salem
The Town of New Salem Massachusetts was founded in 1753 and is located in Franklin County.

Those in the area should visit the Swift River Valley Historical Society for a piece of town history. Also visit the Bears Den which is a 100 foot deep gorge that was carved by the swift river cascading off granite cliffs and this was also said to be the meeting place for Indian Tribes.

The town remains to be a quiet rural bedroom community.

Strong & Tough Audio/Bwomp!

MASS presents a night of sound system culture, featuring a booming Turbosound/Funktion1 hybrid sound brought to you by the Higher9 Soundsystem.

MASS is a production of Strong & Tough Audio.

Goth-Trad - A unique producer with a unique style, Goth-Trad (of Rebel Familia) has emerged from the Japanese electronic scene in the last few years as one of the most arresting artists from his generation. From abstract electronica to noise, from dub and reggae to jungle and rave music, grime to dubstep, Goth-Trad has always experimented and in the process developed his own unique style: blending influences and delivering music that is constantly evolving. Back in Japan, he continues his relentless studio work as well as fostering and showcasing new Japanese talent at his own BTC night. His music can also be heard on various multimedia projects, including soundtracks. As Hyperdub label head Kode 9 put it Goth-Trad is a one-man army, relentlessly working on spreading his music as far and to as many people as possible.

Commodo* builds bass-focussed beats with soul and substance, distancing himself from contemporaries with ingenious sampling and sound design influenced by his long-time affinity for hip-hop. Whether its the dread-pressurised bassweight of his dancefloor-leaning productions, or the tonally rich and immersing quality of his more cerebral work, his scrupulous studio techniques are evidenced by the resounding freshness and longevity of his tracks. His inherently unique and accomplished production style earned him recognition from a host of key figures, landing 12"s on Untitled! and Black Box before finding a natural home for his music at the bastion of low frequency excellence, Deep Medi Musik.

ENDIGO - In the multi-colored spectrum that is bass music, you can find Endigo living between black and white. His music represents an array of moods, from the dark, reflective sounds of "Vessel" to the downright aggressive bass stabs in "Grimace." An Endigo DJ set is a showcase of all of these sounds and moods, all of which share one common thread - deep, heavy bass. Endigo's latest EP, "The Breach," is a sonic exploration of the Syrian civil war, showcasing his take on multiple genres and sounds.

The mission of Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) is to provide farming families in Central America with the training and tools to preserve our planet's tropical forests while overcoming poverty.

Founded in 1997 by Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Florence Reed, Sustainable Harvest International addresses the tropical deforestation crisis in Central America by providing farmers with sustainable alternatives to slash-and-burn agriculture.

Since 1997, SHI has expanded its reach from the one program inHondurasto also include programs inPanama,BelizeandNicaragua.SHI has since established independent affiliates in Honduras, Nicaragua and Belize which, after a transition period, become responsible for their own management and funding. SHI thus facilitates implementation of a program that allows poor farmers to take responsibility for reversing environmental degradation and achieving economic viability within their own countries.

    Stu Larsen / Adam Burrows
Stu Larsen has no home. Three years ago he made a decision to leave behind normality, security, and comfort, choosing to live as simply as possible and to follow the opportunities that would lay themselves down in front of him. It was a bold but necessary move as he found himself getting caught in the day-to-day life of a working man while dreaming of a life on the road. Names such as vagabond, gypsy, and troubadour have often been thrown around in reference to Larsen, but he seems to embrace all that come his way. Since leaving his quiet little town in Queensland, Australia, Larsen has spent the years being on the move, touring, recording, driving friends' tour vans, and pretty much anything else that allows him to stay on the road. With tours through Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the U.K., and Europe taking up the majority of his time so far, there are always talks of venturing to America and Canada in the windows of spare time that seem to be so few and far between. Ryeford, Larsens current release, was recorded in an empty farmhouse in rural Queensland with good friends Luke Thompson (New Zealand) and Tim Hart (Sydney, Boy & Bear). The three friends spent a week in isolation, recording the five tracks live for Larsens EP. The trio brings together a mix of guitar, banjo, ukelele, and three-part harmonies in places, bringing out the very essence of the folk tunes that Larsen had written over the previous year, partly inspired by life on the road and partly by nearing the end of a long-distance relationship with a songstress from New Zealand.

    "Luma: Art in Darkness"
    Luma: Art in Darkness

The childlike pleasure of playing with a flashlight in the dark is transformed into an astonishing, one-of-a-kind light show in Luma. Blending dance and movement with high-tech illuminated objects, this visually stunning performance will take you through a surreal world of light, color and motion. Using darkness as a canvas and light as a brush, Luma paints dazzling images that tell stories, conjure up new worlds and spin a visual magic. Alpha In Boston - I

Happy 2014. Recently I was inspired by Edyna on Instagram who was doing a 40 in 40 bar challenge. Through Crawl In Boston, I run bar crawls so I thought this was an excellent idea. Thanks to the bar crawls and a well timed vacation, it quickly became evident that I was easily going to be able to meet the goal. I was trying to think of a new challenge when on Pandora Alphabet Aerobics by Blackalicious came on my headphones and I immediately knew what I wanted to do next.

I remembered a group called ABC Club was doing Happy Hours in Boston in alphabetical order as part of a year long A to Z bar crawl. Years ago I had joined them on a few events. But unfortunately after some research it appeared they were no longer running events. So Im going to take their lead and attempt to do this in 2014. I;m hoping to have others join me. Im not sure if it will be weekly or biweekly but Im very much looking forward to it.

Right now its pretty low key. No tickets or RSVP (although Ill probably put something on facebook). Just show up if you want.
