About New Salem
map
The Town of New Salem Massachusetts was founded in 1753 and is located in Franklin County.

Those in the area should visit the Swift River Valley Historical Society for a piece of town history. Also visit the Bears Den which is a 100 foot deep gorge that was carved by the swift river cascading off granite cliffs and this was also said to be the meeting place for Indian Tribes.

The town remains to be a quiet rural bedroom community.

Boston - Two-Day Hands-On Workshop: Convey Your Vision & Create Leaders!
Convey Your Vision & Create Leaders! About this workshop Education thrives with great leadership but can quickly fall from favour when leaders lose direction or dont create the environment for people to flourish. Leadership is about personality, courage, self-reliance, communication, motivation and risk taking to name but a few. Whether on a national scale or down to individual organizations, leadership makes the difference between mediocrity and inspiration. Leadership is about having the inbred skills to effectively solve problems, giving people the confidence that the decisions made will ensure things operate on a higher plane. No-one is inspired by the average; everyone is inspired, whether they admit it or not, by "empowerment". We all remember an inspirational leader; they take us with them on their journey, they make us feel good about ourselves and they identify our strengths, giving us the confidence to use our skills and talents to motivate others. When leadership is lacking, voids appear and these fester and lead to decline. In the simplest terms, a "leader" who doesnt inspire and motivate a team/unit/organization is responsible for impacting negatively on individual lives. A "leader" who accepts mediocrity, instead of having the expectation that every person can achieve at the very highest level, can have a direct negative impact on a persons career aspirations, and on the organization as a whole. Looking forward, we need to embrace and nurture our creative energy into developing a unit of authentic leaders who reflect the rich diversity of our society, who understand the ecological and social challenges we face and who recognize the need we all have to be rooted and to belong. This 2-dayhands-onworkshop will help you to spark and fullfill that leader you have inside you. Takeaways Convey your vision; Leave with tools, activities, and exercises you can use to continually improve your ability to create more leaders and followers in your organization; Master how to delegate and move faster; Learn how to empower your team and organization; Learn how to allow your team to grow and reach their maimun potential; Evaluate and choose the basic tools to support your success by practicing and teaching ownership behavior; Learn what to do about the fact that accountability does not equal responsability; Understand when you should coach your employees and how to do it; Develop your empathie skills. Don't take my word for it. Read what others have to say... Who should attend? The workshop is aimed at: Executives and leaders from small/medium organization and start-ups, who want to lead by valuing their people; Any other members of teams who want to improve their leadership skills. Agenda Day 1: Build and Share your Vision Build a Collaborative Strategy Communication Plan and Report Status Delegation and Bounderies Empowerment Day2: Accountability and Responsability Build a Culture of Responsible Leadership Empathy Skills Coaching Skills Features There will be a lot of practical content; All participants will receive material of the course exercises; Heavy focus on working with real issues you are facing; Interactive exercises that engage attendees; Youre invited to bring exercises and tools that work for you and propose them in the class. Bonus: 60-min virtual coaching session for each attendee. About the Facilitator and Trainer Omar Bermudezis a creator of happiness, a change artist, and a people wiz. HDI New England June Chapter Meeting
Please join HDI New England for our local chapter meeting on Thursday, June 11th, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Agenda: 5:30pm-6:45pm Registration, Networking, & Dinner 6:45pm-7:00pm Chapter Updates 7:00pm-8:00pm Presentation The Human side of Change Management presented by Mary Therese Durr, Boston College An approach to transitioning individuals, teams, and organizations to a desired future state. Instinctually we understand that change is difficult. Even the most adventurous among us find change difficult when change is forced on them. Understanding the human side of change; the moving from what we know to a new reality takes time, may require re-identification of oneself, and is unique to the individual. Based on William Bridges Transition Model we will explore the three stages of transition. We will identify where we and those we manage are in the three stages. And we will consider ways to guide ourselves and others through transitions by managing, leading, and supporting. If time allows we will break into groups to manage transitions of a real example of change. Mary Therese Durris the Director of Computing Support and Information Technology Service Management at Boston College. Mary entered the technology field over twenty-five years ago as a computer programmer. She has moved from software development to computer lab management to networking to systems management and lastly to directing those who do all the real work. Her specialty is discovering peoples strengths. Mary has her Master's in Education, Research, Measurement, and Evaluation at the Boston College Lynch School of Education.More information is available at https://www.linkedin.com/in/undurrstood The meeting will be held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute'sGeorge C. Basic to Badass Backbends w/ Andrea Fotopoulos
When I first started practicing yoga, some 20 odd years ago, backbending would bring up feelings of fear, nausea, lower back pain/discomfort and frustration. My back was just not meant to bend that way, I reasoned with my defeated self. My legs were not engaged, my arms were weak, my shoulders were tight and my heart was broken. Backbends did not change overnight, but with practice have become an expression of the strong work and dedication of engagement and articulation that I am learning to cultivate in my life. Whether your relationship with backbending postures sounds like what I described above or not, practicing backbends is a vital part of a well rounded yoga practice. Keeping the spine mobile and capable of a full range of motion keeps us standing tall, moving well and feeling good as we age. In our yoga practice, it means practicing the other classes of poses with more clarity and depth so we are supported in this radical opening of our hearts. In this 2.5 hour workshop, we will move from fundamental to more advanced variations of bows, defining some of the key actions to support your backbending practice. Through repetition of actions that create strength and flexibility, courage and freedom, we'll move from basic to bad ass backbends!
