About New Salem
The Town of New Salem Massachusetts was founded in 1753 and is located in Franklin County.

Those in the area should visit the Swift River Valley Historical Society for a piece of town history. Also visit the Bears Den which is a 100 foot deep gorge that was carved by the swift river cascading off granite cliffs and this was also said to be the meeting place for Indian Tribes.

The town remains to be a quiet rural bedroom community.

25th Anniversary Andrew J. Davis Jr. Unity Gala

Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts celebrates its 25th Anniversary of mentoring boys to manhood. Your support of this Gala enables CBMM to raise the funding needed to sustain the successful mentoring services we have provided to more than 2,000 boys and teens in more than 25 years. Boys mentored in the 1990s have become successful men, and are now returning to mentor the next generation of youth. The guidance, academic support, counseling and referrals that black and brown youth in the Greater Boston area receive are needed as much today, as it was 25 years ago. Your support makes it possible for our youth to enter and complete high-school, college and/or career training to become contributing members of their society, families and communities.

President's Challenge 2015 Kickoff

Come join us to kick off the fourth Presidents Challenge! Dean David Ellwood of the John F. Kennedy School of Government will be explaining the promise of social entrepreneurship. Join students from across the University to share ideas and find teams.

The Presidents Challenge is an initiative to help Harvard students develop entrepreneurial solutions to the worlds most important social problems. Sponsored by President Drew Faust, the challenge gives students access to expertise in the form of mentors and experience in the process of bringing great ideas to action.

Teams have been asked to present novel solutions to improve many of the worlds most pressing problems:
education innovation
affordable health
energy and the environment
economic development & sustainable employment
connected cities

This event will be the first in a series hosted by the i-lab. At the kickoff even you will be able to ideate and meet other Harvard students interested in making impact in the world. Additional workshops will allow you to learn how to write proposals and develop your idea--more info on the programming will be shared by Gordon Jones, Managing Director of the i-lab.

The i-lab will play an active role as host to the teams as they develop and refine their ideas, assisting students by hosting workshops, providing guidance, and giving them access to our resources and facility throughout the Challenge.
