About New Salem
map
The Town of New Salem Massachusetts was founded in 1753 and is located in Franklin County.

Those in the area should visit the Swift River Valley Historical Society for a piece of town history. Also visit the Bears Den which is a 100 foot deep gorge that was carved by the swift river cascading off granite cliffs and this was also said to be the meeting place for Indian Tribes.

The town remains to be a quiet rural bedroom community.

CJ Ramone
with Broken Gold, Meat Depressed
Christopher Joseph Ward (born October 8, 1965), better known as C. J. Ramone, is an American musician known as the bassist for punk rock group The Ramones from 1989 to 1996.Christopher J. Ward was born in Queens, New York, though he lived in Deer Park, New York for most of his early life.He attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius School and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1983.Prior to joining the Ramones, Ward served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a fan of the Ramones, particularly of Dee Dee Ramone, before joining the band, and later played with him in a band called The Remains or The Ramainz, which was formed by Dee Dee Ramone, Marky Ramone and Dee Dee's wife, Barbara Zampini (Barbara Ramone). He also played with Axe, Los Gusanos, and is currently playing in Bad Chopper.Ward replaced original band member Dee Dee Ramone, though Dee Dee continued to write songs for the group. C.J. sang many well-known Ramones songs, and gave The Ramones a younger image. In the documentary End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones it states that when C.J. joined the Ramones he was seen as a breath of fresh air into the band. Johnny Ramone says he knew immediately when C.J. auditioned to replace Dee Dee that he was right, commenting that he "had the right look".[citation needed] When the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame original Ramones drummer, Tommy Ramone, credited C.J. with "keeping the band young". C.J. also had the idea for the band to cover Tom Waits' "I Don't Want to Grow Up" on the album Adios Amigos!.C.J. Ramone was the youngest member of the Ramones when he joined, by 9 years. (He also shared a birthday, October 8, with bandmate Johnny Ramone.) His first show with The Ramones was on September 30, 1989, in Leicester, England, and he played with the band until they retired on August 6, 1996.

Please join us for the Pineapple Project, an original play about gender, creativity, and each child's freedom to be who they are.

The Pineapple Project was born during a moment of play between
actor Mal Malme and her niece in which her niece said "Boys Can't be Princesses!" As a gender non-conforming person and theater artist, Mal couldn't ignore this statement. This led Mal and colleagues Becca A. Lewis and ReneeFarster-Degenhardt to create a theatre piece for children ages 3-8 to broaden the gender conversation and validate each child's identity.

Senior Cohousing: Taking Charge of the Rest of Your Life
Are you 55 or older and looking for a game plan for the last 20 to 30 years of your life? How will we live as we age and need help? As 10,000 baby boomers turn 60 each day, this question looms large. In fact, a recent study by Harvard and AARP predicts that senior housing is the next big American crisis. Most of us want to grow old in our own homes. But the reality is that millions of older Americans struggle physically, financially and emotionally to stay in homes and communities that are not designed to accommodate their changing needs. What happens when you lose your spouse, need help with the stairs or can't drive anymore? The alternative is moving into an institutional setting like a "continuing care retirement community" or a nursing home. Isn't there a better place and a better way to house our elders (us too) than long-term-care facilities or home alone? We dream about living in an affordable, safe neighborhood where people know and care about each other, but does that exist? What if... What if you could live in a neighborhood of small privately owned homes clustered around shared green space and a common house? What if it was designed and run by you and your neighbors? What if the common house had suites for caregivers and a big kitchen and dining room for celebrations and community meals? What if this neighborhood was affordable, energy efficient and designed with the physical and social needs of seniors in mind? What if neighbors looked out for each other? If this vision appeals to you, please join us for a "community conversation" about senior cohousing, a new model for housing seniors with dignity, independence, safety, mutual concern, and fun. A presentation will be followed by break-out discussion groups. Organized by the Middlesex Senior Cohousing Initiative. Two totally jaded Producer/DJs currently based in Ottawa, Canada.
Co-founders of the infamous Sunday Sessions.

Made up of Hungarian Zoltan Kontes and Briton Simon Sheppard, Return of the Jaded rapidly made a lasting impression upon the aficionados of quality underground house music. Lolita, their debut release on Pleasurekrafts imprint Kraftek garnered over 200,000 plays on Soundcloud alone. 2014 was a stellar year for ROTJ punctuated by a packed house performance at the legendary Nest in London. Most notably, the release of Whats It Gonna Take on Kittball Records (Germany) charted at #6 on the DMC Buzz Chart, was viewed more than more than 250,000 on the Mr. Deep Sense Youtube channel and received more than 175,000 plays on Soundcloud. Their collaboration Old School Lovin with in.deed on Kittball is closing in on 200,000 views on Youtube and 100,000 plays on Soundcloud. No less than 6 of their productions have charted in the top 100 on Beatport. Further releases on 303Lovers and well received remixes on Enormous Tunes and Kowalski Music are a testament to the critical appreciation they have received in such a short time. A plethora of respected DJs have been dropping ROTJ tracks in their sets namely the likes of David Penn, Tube & Berger, Crazibiza, Luigi Rocca, Franky Rizardo, Manuel De La Mare, Boy George, Tocadisco, My Digital Enemy and Mario Ochoa amongst others. They presently host a monthly boiler-room type event in their hometown of Ottawa, Canada. ROTJ are also busy in the studio concocting new original productions that will further distinguish them as trendsetters in a rapidly evolving music industry.

RICK LAPLANTE

Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Rick Laplante's involvement in the party scene began in London, ON in early 1992 as a partner of Prism Productions, a project committed to hosting intimate gatherings with good vibes and fresh music. Unable to resist the siren song of the turntables for long, Rick began basement DJing later in 1992, with his first professional gig the following year.

His main musical influences came through London's proximity to Detroit and Toronto, where frequent weekend visits to these cities exposed him to some of the most groundbreaking underground sounds heard in the world during the early 90's. Rick has now been professionally DJing for over 20 years.

Rick's preferred club style is anything that can be described as groovy and/or bouncy tech-house, yet he also draws influence from his eclectic music collection - with flashes of myriad genres, ranging from techno to disco, breaks to jazz and from latin to lounge. He hasn't forgotten his musical roots from running the Detroit-Toronto corridor for years, either... so you can always expect the unexpected while Rick blends several different auditory flavours into his Dj sets.

Rick is active in the local scene of our Nation's Capital, he promoted a weekly afterhours event, Sunrise, for its run of over 5 years, and now with his current promotions company "Framework Music", which recently teamed up with Return of the Jaded to host a bi-weekly party called Sunday Sessions, an afternoon social gathering at Ottawa's legendary Mercury Lounge.

As well as promoting events, Rick has performed many out of town gigs, from Montreal to Toronto, from Boston to New York City and across north eastern North America. Rick now has his sights firmly set beyond Ottawa's city limits by starting to delve into production work, with aspirations of launching his own label in coming years.
